The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, proposes to issue a request for quote for the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) for a sole source contract to Kinemetrics Inc., Pasadena, California, for the purchase of fifteen (15) High Dynamic Range Accelerographs (Strong Motion Earthquake Recorders) to include the following equipment: (1) ACCLEROMETERS: (Tri-axial force balance type internal or external mounting; Range: 2g Full Scale Range; Bandwidth: 0 to 200 Hz Dynamic Range: 155 dB); (2) DATA ACQUISITION: (Number of channels: 3 or 4; Dynamic range: 108dB @ 200 samples per second (SPS); Resolution: 18-bit resolution @200 SPS; Sample rates: 100, 200, 250 SPS; Frequency Response: DC 80 Hz @ 200 SPS; Noise: less than 8; micro-volts RMS; Input range: -2.5 to +2.5 volts; Sampling: Simultaneous sample and hold; Filter: FIR filter, cut-off @ 0.8 Nyquist, 120dB down; Trigger: Independent channel thresholds; Trigger Bandwidth: 0.1 to 12.5 Hz; Event memory: 10 seconds pre-trigger, 3600 seconds post-trigger, selectable in 1-second increments; Alarm thresholds: 0.01 to 100% full-scale output (FSO); (3) HARDWARE: (2 -- PCMCIA storage slots; 1 -- 6 MB PCMCIA memory card; 1 -- 57K PCMCIA modem card is optional, but recorder will be modem ready; Recording Capacity: 45 minutes of 24-bit data on 3 channels @200 Hz; File Format: DOS or MS Windows; Timing: GPS with accuracy of 1-millisecond data synchronization optional; Controls: User interface to set sample rate, filter, trigger type and voltage; RS-232 Interface for data retrieval and control; Power: 36 hours continuous operation: Consumption NTE 110 mA in active mode; Rechargeable 12V gel cell battery, 6.5 Amp hour rating; Housing: Reinforced Lexan or equivalent strength material EMI/RFI Shielded; External Military Style threaded connections for Inputs, Trigger, Charging, Antenna, etc.; Adjustable leveling feet; Size: NTE 12" x 15" x 8"; Weight: NTE 25 lbs.; Environment: Operating Temperature: -20 C to 70 C; Humidity: 0 100% RH); (4) SOFTWARE: (Window compatible control and retrieval interface software provided; Data files: SUDS and ASCII file formats). These items are the only systems of their type commercially available that meet or exceed the minimum selection criteria. The procurement of all systems is critical to the Corps of Engineers' ERDC research and development program.
