Moore, Contract Specialist, (202) 324-2978 This is an intent to award a sole source purchase order for commercial items under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6. This order will be issued under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). This is not a small business set- aside. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 7011 and the Small Business Size Standard is $5,000,000.00. This will be an all or none firm-fixed price contract. The Government intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the MGM Grand, 3799 Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89109, for the rental of a conference/training center during the week of August 20, 2000, through August 25, 2000. Based on a detailed market survey and contact with the Las Vegas Convention Center, it was determined that the MGM Grand was the only hotel that can meet the following specifications: The annual conference requires a meeting facility capable of seating 200 individuals in a conference/ school room configuration, with room to display and demonstrate bulky exhibits. In addition, a focus group area of approximately 12,000 to 14,000 square feet is needed. This area should also be capable of being partitioned into 14 rooms and be contiguous to the primary conference room(s) for security considerations. The conference site should also have at least 200 or more sleeping rooms available at the Government per diem rate. In addition, an administrative area, with conference table, communication and telephone services of 1000-1200 square feet is required. All areas must be capable of 24-hour lock down for security purposes. All conference rooms must be isolated from the general public. A hospitality desk or table located on the outside of the conference room is required to provide an added degree of security. Also needed are 5 flip charts, 80 electrical hook-ups, 20 telephone lines, 2 56KB lines, 2 electrical distribution centers, 8 overhead projectors, 1 slide projector, 8 screens 70" x 70", 1 screen 8'x8', 2 VCRs, and 12 VGA monitors (27"). A Department of Labor Wage Determination is being obtained for this requirement. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received by 12:00p.m. June 12, 2000, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
