COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 5,2000 PSA#2614Defense Supply Service-Washington, 5200 Army Pentagon, Rm. 1D245,
Washington, DC 20310-5200 A -- ADVANCED MODELING AND SIMULATION TECHNOLOGIES FOR SUPPORTING
ANALYSIS, ACQUISITION, AND TRAINING SIMULATION APPLICATIONS SOL n/a DUE
071400 POC Dr. Phil Barry, (703) 998-0660 E-MAIL: Click here to contact
the point of contact via e-mail, Jordajn@hqda.army.mil. The Defense
Modeling and Simulation Office (DSMO) is collecting information for the
research and development of Advance Modeling and Simulation (M&S)
Technologies that can enhance the state-of-the-art of analysis,
acquisition, and training simulation applications. The DMSO is a
technology transition and support organization charged with maximizing
efficiency and effectiveness of M&S efforts across the Department of
Defense (DOD) and to support the reuse of DOD's models and simulations.
The DMSO is leading a DOD-wide effort to establish an M&S common
technical framework (CTF) to support the interoperability of all types
of models and simulations among themselves and with Command, Control,
Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) systems. This CTF
consists of an M&S High Level Architecture (HLA), Conceptual Models of
the Mission Space (CMMS) and Data Standards. Additionally, DMSO is
supporting the development of common services to complement the CTF.
These common services include the availability of authoritative
representations of the natural (terrain, ocean, atmosphere, and space)
and man-made environments, weapons and warfighting platforms, and
human and organizational behavior. Additionally, common services
include a Modeling and Simulation Research Repository (MSRR) and tools
for data interchange and Verification, Validation, and Accreditation
(VV&A) of models and simulations. Detailed information about the CTF
and its supporting common services can be found on the Web at
http://www.dmso.mil. The DMSO is seeking information on all M&S
technology development efforts that could enhance the CTF and the
associated Common Services. Particular areas of interest include: (1)
interoperability and reuse; (2) composability and scalability of models
and simulations; (3) integrated natural environment; (4) data
standards; (5) human and organizational behavior modeling (including
representation of societal effects); (6) verification, validation, and
accreditation; (7) tools for integrating COTS/GOTS products (e.g.,
CAD/CAM products); (8) multiple levels security; (9) immersive (virtual
reality) technologies; (10) cognitive performance modulators; (11)
embedded learning technologies; and (12) basic research topics
(simulation methodology, computational mathematics, stochastic
analysis, cognitive models, automated knowledge capture, etc.).
Government organizations, commercial companies, universities, and other
non-profit organizations capable of conducting appropriate research and
development, in whole or in part, are invited to submit an affirmative
response to this notice. Interested parties are requested to submit
research and development information/ideas; as well as capability
statements, catalogs, or their published literature that describes
their research and development activities, products and product
capability no later than 14 July 2000. Information shall address at a
minimum; research, development, and demonstration idea/capability;
technical challenge that can be addressed; maturity of the modeling and
simulation technology; previous experience with similar efforts;
business size, and a corporate point of contact. Interested sources
should respond to (U.S. Mail, express/overnight deliveries, and
courier) Director, Defense Modeling and Simulation Office, ATTN: Dr.
Phil Barry 1901 North Beaurgard Street, Suite 500, Alexandria, Virginia
22311. Any questions should be directed to the Technical and RFI POC
listed above. This submission of this information is planning purposes
only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the government to
procure any items/services, nor for the government to pay for the
information received. No solicitation document exists. Posted 06/01/00
