69 -- COYOTE II -- COOPERATIVE YEARLY OPERATIONAL TECHNOLOGY EVALUATION Background " CBD Announcement: "This is a call for papers. Closing date for responses back to ASC/YWI is COB, 6 weeks after CBD Announcement. The Revolutionizing Training Division of the Training Systems Product Group, ASC/YWI, and the Warfighter Training Research Division of the Air Force Research Laboratory, AFRL/HEA, are assessing the initial interest of the Training Systems Industry in demonstrating and/or marketing emerging training system technologies. The demonstration and/or marketing event being planned is COYOTE II, the second COoperative Yearly Operational Technology Evaluation. COYOTE II is being planned for late Spring/early Summer 2001. Other members of industry and Air Force decision-makers will be invited to this event which will be hosted by AFRL/HEA, at Mesa, AZ. Technologies of interest to be demonstrated include: networking; aircrew mission rehearsal capabilities; synthetic threat and natural environments (rapid creation and authoritative representation of objects, weather servers...); rapid database production; intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (as it relates to the preparation of the Aerospace Expeditionary Force); multilevel security solutions; night vision operations; and visual technologies. COYOTE will include demonstrations that are stand alone, networked locally, or distributed long haul. All networked demonstrations will use HLA rather than DIS. A training scenario will be developed by AFRL/HEA as a means for networked participants to demonstrate their technologies in a realistic training environment. All papers will be evaluated by a review board within three weeks after the call for papers closing date. Selected vendors will be visited on or about 11 weeks after CBD announcement to view the proposed technologies. Two weeks later, technologies selected for COYOTE II will be announced. Scenario development and integration of technologies to be networked will require at least 6 months for planning and integration with the initial planning conference on or about 1 Sep 00. The review board will select a yet to be determined number of papers as candidates for participating in COYOTE II. All papers will be sent a response following the review board process announcing the results of that review. Currently, the demonstration period is planned to be for three (3) days. One of the demonstration days, or some portion of one of the days, may be conducted at the SECRET classification level. Funding for papers and technology demonstrations is not anticipated. In reference to this solicitation, please send one copy of your responses/ papers to Mr. David A. Greschke, AFRL/HEA, Bldg. 558, 6030 S.
