Work involves archeological testing at eight historic archeological sites at the City of Grand Forks in northeastern North Dakota, to determine their eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places. Two of the sites may be associated with the National Register listed architectural properties. In addition to the testing, a proposed borrow area for use during flood protection project levee construction, and an extension to the proposed English Coulee diversion channel will be surveyed for cultural resources. Key project personnel must meet the Secretary of the Interior's professional qualification standards for archeologists, historic archeologists, historians, and architectural historians (ref. 36 CFR 61, Appendix A). The Contractor will need to obtain an archeological permit from the Archaeology and Historic Preservation Division of the State Historical Society of North Dakota prior to starting fieldwork.
