WEST COAST SYMPOSIUM FOR ACQUISITION REFORM 6-7 JUNE 2000 The Naval Sea Systems Command, Port Hueneme Division, Surface Warfare Center (PHD NSWC) and the ASN (RD&A) Acquisition Reform Office is hosting a West Coast Symposium on Acquisition Reform 6-7 June 2000 for both the Government and Industry Acquisition workforce. This Symposium will be held in Bldg. 1388 Auditorium with registration for both days starting from 0730-0815. Advance registration is not necessary. Topics on 6 June will include a presentation by Mr. Eric Grothues, ASN (RD&A) Acquisition Business Management Office on "Risk Management" that will provide an introduction into the latest navy initiatives on technical risk management and presentation by Mr. Jack Hawxhurst, DoN CIO Office on "Knowledge Management" which will focus on the Department of Navy's strategic perspective on knowledge management implementation. Topics on 7 June will include presentations by Ms. Mary Lawson-Hines, ASN (RD&A), Acquisition Reform Office on "How to Incorporate Acquisition Reform into Your Daily Work"with topics to include AR Goals, Continuous Learning Requirements, and Tool Utilization; a presentation by Mr. Charles Borsch, CNO-N432N on "Prime Vendor Support" which will highlight Prime Vendor methods to take advantage of common, private-sector, acquisition and logistics products and practices; and a presentation by Mr. Denis Catalano, Director, NAVSEA Acquisition Support Office on "DoD 5000 Rewrite" which will address how the changes being made to DoD 5000 will affect the acquisition workforce. Attendance is open to all civilians, military, and contractor personnel. Participation of the entire acquisition workforce community, as well as our local navy community (SLC, NAVFAC, NFESC, NFCTC, and NAWC), industry partners, DAWIA Acquisition Workforce members and anyone whose job support acquisition are encouraged to attend.
