COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 18,2000 PSA#2603

DISA/DITCO/DTS42, 2300 East Drive, Bldg 3600, Scott AFB, IL 62225-5406

D -- INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES DUE 053100 POC Deborah Arentsen, 618-229-9661, arentsend@scott.disa.mil DISA WESTHEM is SEEKING INFORMATION FOR PLANNING PURPOSES from potential sources who may be interested in providing UNIX server capacity at various DISA facilities located throughout the United States. The Government desires to meet this requirement through a server utility contract of three to five year duration which will provide capacity in the areas of CPU/processor capacity, memory expansion, and input/output (I/O) services. A key element of this RFI is that DISA would pay based upon CPU usage. It is the Government's intent to pay based only upon the capacity actually consumed, in a manner comparable to payments made to an electric utility for energy actually consumed. This capability must be delivered in a format characterized by dynamic reconfiguration, non-disruptive change, and incremental capacity increases/decreases, including both large increment, customer-forecast increases and smaller increment, on-demand increases. It also must accommodate memory and I/O port increases with minimal customer interruption. The format must allow integration with other CPUs/processors and peripherals currently supporting the Government within the stated environment where this utility will be employed. It must be able to communicate with peripheral devices, especially disk drives, from a variety of manufacturers. The CPU operating system provided must be able to support the customer-specific suite of third party software and the database management system without modification or unique extensions. It is desirable that the system be storage area network ready and non-proprietary. The system must be Open System compliant. The system must be year 2000 compliant. The vendor-provided software component used to measure the on-demand incremental usage must provide visibility of the measured usage to both the government and the vendor concurrently. All questions and/or comments should be directed to the Contracting Officer. Posted 05/16/00 (W-SN455182). (0137)
