(CDC) contemplates award of a contract entitled "High-Speed,
Needle-Free Device for Measles Vaccination," whose purpose would be to
support the research and development (R&D) of a safe needle-free jet
injector device capable of vaccinating large numbers of persons by
limited manpower in short periods of time for use in epidemic control
and disease eradication campaigns. The contract would encompass up to
seven (7) stages of R&D (i.e., product design, manufacture, bench
testing, animal and/or cadaver studies, human clinical, field trials,
etc.) to be accomplished over a period of up to 36 months, subject to
negotiation between the offeror and CDC. The date specified for receipt
of proposals will be approximately 30 days after the issue date of the
Request for Proposal (RFP), which is anticipated to be May 30, 2000.
Upon issuance, the RFP will be available on the internet at
www.cdc.gov/nip/dev/measlesdeviceRFP.htm. Hardcopies may be obtained
upon written request to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
Procurement and Grants Office, Contracts Management Branch, Section I,
Attn: Kem Williams, 2920 Brandywine Road, Room 3100, Atlanta, GA
30341. The requester shall cite RFP number 2000-N-00073 and provide a
mailing address, point of contact, and telephone number. Telephone,
e-mail, or fax request will not be accepted. All responsible sources
may submit a proposal which will be considered. A wage determination
has not been requested since the requirement involves meaningful
numbers of professional employees as defined in FAR Subpart 22.11.
