TACOM is preparing to issue a solicitation for a FAMILY OF LOADERS. In addition to the previously mentioned 4.5-5.0 cubic yard capacity Scoop Loader (Heavy Loader), we intend to combine the procurement for 2.5 cubic yard capacity Scoop Loader (Light Loader) under one solicitation. There are three configurations of Light Loader: Type I -- Non-Sectionalized (Air Transportable and Air-Drop-Able), Type II -- Sectionalized (Airborne transportable, Air-Drop-Able and Helicopter Transportable), and Type III -- General Purpose. The Light Loader should be capable of completing construction and loading tasks, such as stockpiling material, excavating undisturbed and compacted soil and loading consolidated earth and loose or decomposed rock, sand aggregate and loose soil from stockpiles into dump trucks. In addition, the Light Loader will be used as a clamshell to handle irregularly shaped objects, as a dozer for general bulldozer work, as a scraper and to provide lifting capability. This announcement is to provide offerors notification of our intentions and to seek responses to the Market Investigation Questionnaire(Part III) which will be posted to the Heavy Loader homepage.
