drydock repairs including, but not limited to the following Base Items:
(1) Renew Barge Hull Plating, (2) Renew Barge Deck Plating and
Framing,(3) Clean and Inspect Diesel Fuel Tanks, (4) Clean, Inspect,
and Disinfect Potable Water Tanks, (5) Preserve Sewage and Grey Water
Collection and Holding Tanks, (6) Renew Propeller Shafts, (7) Renew
Water-Lubricated Shaft Bearings, (8) Remove and Reinstall Propellers,
(9) Perform Propeller Minor Repair and Reconditioning, (10) Remove,
Inspect, and Reinstall Rudder Assemblies for the Steering System, (11)
Clean and Test Grid Coolers, (12) Overhaul, Renew, and Test Valves,
(13) Preserve Spud and Spud Well on Tender and Barge, (14) Inspect,
Overhaul and Test Barge Boat Davit, (15) Inspect, Overhaul and Test
Allied Aton Crane, (16) Perform Non-Destructive Testing of Various Deck
Fittings, (17) Preserve Barge Buoy Deck and Capstan Drum, (18) Preserve
Underway Body, (19) Preserve Freeboard, (20) Provide Temporary
Logistics, (21) Routine Dry Docking for both the Vessel and Barge.
Options include, but are not limited to the following items: (1)
Welding Repairs including Crack Repair (Steel), Flat Plate Renewal,
Shaped Plate Renewal, (2) Remove and Dispose of Additional Diesel Fuel,
(3) Perform Minor Coating Repair, (4) Strut Barrel Renewal, (5) Strut
Renewal, (6) Renew Rudder Lower Bearing Truck, (7) Renew Upper Bearing
Housing and Upper Bearing Housing Support, (8) Preserve Bilges in
various locations, (9) Ultrasonic Testing, (10) Spud Well Liner
Preservation and Renewal, (11) Composite Labor, (12) Laydays. Vessel_s
homeport is Sewickley, Pennsylvania. The vessel_s length is 65 foot
10__, B-Class River Tender and 100 Foot Barge. Vessel availability
schedule is for fifty-four (54) days, starting on or about August 28,
2000. The following Geographic Restriction applies: Vessel and Barge is
restricted from Mile Marker 0.0 on the Ohio River to Mile Marker 128.7
on the Monogahela River and Mile Marker 72.0 on the Allegeheny River
and Mile Marker 341.0 on the Ohio River plus 88.2 miles of the Kanawha
River and 7.9 miles of the Big Sandy River. The Vessel and Barge
Geographical Restriction includes travel no further south than Memphis,
TN and no further north than St Louis, MO on the Mississippi River.
Orders for U.S. Coast Guard specification reference drawings must be
placed within ten (10) days from the solicitation issuance date. There
will be a non-refundable charge of $150.00 required, in the form of a
certified check or money order payable to the U.S. Coast Guard, MLCA,
for a set of hard copy drawings. Drawings are now available on CD-ROM.
The CD-ROM sets are available for all cutters and will be provided free
of charge. The CD-ROM(s) contain WINDOWS compliant raster/vector
formats (e.g. *.TIF *.TIF(group), *.DWG, and *.DWF, etc.). All other
referenced documents are available for viewing at 300 East Main Street,
Suite 600, Norfolk, Virginia. Funds are available for this procurement.
The proposed contract listed here is part of the Small Business
Competitiveness Demonstration Program. Plans and specifications will be
issued on or around May 22, 2000. All responsible sources may submit a
bid, which shall be considered by the United States Coast Guard. This
notice is for informational purposes for Minority, Women-owned, and
Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs). The Department of
Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization (OSDBU) has a program to acquire short-term working capital
assistance for transportation related contracts. Loans are available
