of Solicitation. The Department of Energy (DOE), Albuquerque Operations
Office (AL) announces that it intends to conduct a competitive Program
Solicitation and award a financial assistance (cooperative agreement)
for the program entitled "Gasoline Vehicle Exhaust Particle Sampling
Study." Through this solicitation, DOE seeks to measure representative,
on-road particle size distributions between gasoline and diesel
exhaust. This is to sample an on-road fleet to report differences in
particle size and number distributions of exhaust from gasoline and
diesel vehicles. A DOE technical panel will perform a scientific and
engineering evaluation of each responsive application to determine the
merit of the approach, and availability of DOE funding in the
technical area proposed. DOE anticipates issuing one financial
assistance (cooperative agreement) from this solicitation. DOE reserves
the right to support or not support, with or without discussions, any
or all applications received in whole or in part, and to determine how
many awards may be made through this solicitation subject to the funds
available. Cost sharing by the applicant is required. Details of the
cost sharing are contained in the solicitation. The Program
Solicitation is expected to be available at the web site on or about
May 10, 2000. Applications must be prepared and submitted in accordance
with the instructions and forms contained in the Program Solicitation.
