Announcement Industry Review of Request for Technical Proposal for
Vehicles and Systems Components for the Houston METRO Downtown to
Astrodome Light Rail Transit System The Metropolitan Transit Authority
(METRO) of Harris County, Texas will be issuing a draft Request for
Technical Proposal (RFTP) package for Industry Review for the vehicles
and systems components for a 7.5 mile surface Light Rail Transit (LRT)
System in the corridor from downtown Houston to the Astrodome. METRO
envisions a two-step procurement process as follows: Procurement Event
Date Step One RFTP July 3, 2000 Pre-Technical Proposal Conference July
20, 2000 Technical Proposals due August 11, 2000 Technical/Contract
terms & conditions discussions held August 12 through November 29,
2000 Reviews, discussions, clarifications, and revisions concluded.
Identification of firms determined to be responsive and responsible to
conformed specifications determined. Approved firms requested to
certify their revised proposals as final November 30, 2000 Step Two
Invitation for Bids issued to previously determined qualified firms
only December 1, 2000 Receipt of bid prices January 2, 2001 Issue
limited NTP January 9, 2001 Board approval of low bid offeror March 22,
2001 A briefing on the scope of the RFTP package for the vehicles and
systems component and all other components (including civil) of the LRT
System acquisition will be held on May 23, 2000 at 9:30 A.M., local
time, at the DoubleTree Hotel at Allen Center, 400 Dallas Street,
Houston, Texas. An expanded version of this announcement is currently

Information Bids & Proposals). A draft RFTP package for industry
