TACOM proposes to award a contract for follow on analyses of the
Bradley Fire Support (BFIST) and STRIKER vehicles to Vector Research
Incorporated (VRI) on a sole source basis. These analyses will be used
by PM BFVS to determine vehicle improvements, equipment, and upgrades
required to support the Fire Support Team (FIST) and Direct Support
Air Defense Artillery (ADA) mission. The analyses will provide
quantifiable support for decisions being made by the Program Manager
concerning the vehicle improvements, equipment, and upgrades required
to conduct the FIST and ADA mission more effectively. The analyses will
quantify the added value of several potential improvements to the FIST
and ADA vehicles and illustrate the contributions of each added, or
improved, capability to the maneuver force. Additionally, these
analyses will further quantify the added value of potential
improvements to the Striker system to the Combat Observation Laser
Teams and the supported maneuver force. Analysis is required to examine
and compare the benefits of improving the M7 BFIST and transitioning to
the M2A3 BFIST. Similar analysis is required to quantify the
warfighting benefits of developing and fielding the Linebacker system.
Additionally, analysis is required that quantifies the warfighting
benefits provided by Combat Observation Lazing Teams (COLTS) equipped
with the Striker system to support its acquisition and development.
Analysis is also required to design, develop, and test a revised Early
Entry scenario capable of performing analysis of capabilities for the
Army's Medium Brigade initiative. See Note 22. Posted 04/27/00
