Dynacs Information and Applied Technology, the government engineering development contractor at Kennedy Space Center, is presently seeking commercially manufactured and available detector(s) for use as a pre-combustion fire alarm. The detector(s) are sought for comparative laboratory and field calculations for potential spacecraft applications. The detector(s) shall use the Electronic Nose (E-nose) technology that involves sensor array and pattern recognition. It is required to be lightweight and smaller than a cell phone. It shall detect off-gas or pre-combustion compounds from electrical wire insulation materials made of Teflon, Kapton, Silicone, etc. as minimum. It shall provide audible or visual alarms when an incipient fire is detected. It shall also provide PC software to enable the evaluation of individual sensor's reaction and to perform training functions.
