The Corps of Engineers has a need for a contract for Stilling Basin Extension and Downstream Scour Protection, Charleroi Locks and Dam, Monongahela River Mile 41.5, near the community of Charleroi, Pennsylvania. The work involves extending the existing stilling basin and placing new scour protection downstream of the new extension and along the existing left abutment wall. Major features of the work include performing underwater excavation (dredging), furnishing and installing a steel sheet pile cut-off wall, furnishing and installing soil anchors in the existing left abutment wall, placement of tremie concrete to form the extended stilling basin slab, furnishing and placing granular backfill and filter materials, and furnishing and placing graded rip rap scour protection, and transport and disposal of excavated material in the Allegheny River, approximate river mile 25. Specialty services include diving and operations conducted from floating plant. The period of performance will be 540 calendar days. Magnitude of the project is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The plans and specifications will be placed on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. Plans and specifications will not be provided in a printed paper hard copy format.
