COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 2,2000 PSA#254858- -- ENHANCED DOWN-SIZED DEPLOYABLE SATELLITE TERMINAL (EDDST) The
United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) plans to award
through a competitive acquisition strategy a firm fixed price (FFP),
indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to procure a
Non-developmental Item (NDI) available SHF tri-band satellite terminals
in a transit case configuration. This Request for Information (RFI)
does not constitute a request for proposal (RFP) or signify an
intention to enter into a contract. Industry comments are solicited
regarding the Government's Performance Specification for the transit
case configured Enhanced Down-sized Deployable Satellite Terminal
(E-DDST). The intent of E-DDST initiative is to replace currently
fielded DDST terminals with terminals possessing increased performance
and broader capabilities. The Government is looking for increased
performance in the form of at least doubling the current DDST
throughput through innovative technical approaches, but will consider
size and weight trade-offs against increased terminal performance. Like
the DDST the enhanced terminal will operate in the X, C and Ku SHF
frequency bands. An objective for the E-DDST is to have a migration
path supporting eventual operation in both commercial and military
Ka-band as these space segments become available. The E-DDST will
include a MIL-STD-188-168 (Draft) compliant Tactical Satellite Signal
Processor (TSSP) to support Hub-Spoke (up to 6 Spokes) and Mesh network
topologies in addition to point-to-point connectivity. Interested
parties are invited to request the E-DDST Performance Specification
from Christopher Stiller, Contract Specialist at USSOCOM at (813)
828-7659 or email requests to http://stillec@socom.mil, submit
responses within 21 calendar days after the date of this notice. Please
be prepared to identify some minimal information regarding your
