A -- SMALL-SCALE DISH/CONVERTER COMPONENT AND SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT SOL RAA-0-30428 DUE 041800 POC Jim Fox, Fax (303) 384-7352 The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) anticipates issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) in early March 2000 for the performance of research and development in the area of small-scale solar dish/converter component and system development with net electric power in the range of 1-5 kW using a solar concentrator with an area in the range of 5 to 30 square meters. The primary objectives of the research and development are to provide an opportunity for industry to develop, fabricate, and demonstrate a fully autonomous dish/converter system or major components thereof, including the concentrator or converter. The project will be conducted in two phases with Phase 1 involving development, fabrication, demonstration, and evaluation and with Phase 2 involving design iterations to further improve the product. Multiple awards are anticipated for Phase 1 under Fiscal Year 2000 funding level of $500,000. Funding level for Phase 2 is expected to be $1,000,000.
