NUWC Division Newport intends to award a sole source commercial contract to Advanced Waste Management Systems, Hixson, TN to conduct a series of document reviews, site visits and audits of NUWC to determine conformance to ISO 14001 procedures and standards. This commercial procurement will consist of a one-year Base contract with four one-year Options. AWM was selected as it was one of the first five ISO 14001 registrants to be accredited by ANSI-RAB National Accreditation Program, was the only environmental engineering services firm selected to participate in the ANSI-RAB Pilot EMS Registrar Accreditation Program and the first such firm to be accredited under a U.S. program. Additionally, AWM has registered to ISO 14001 the first, and to this date only, DoD facility -- four operational units of the Naval Aviation Depot, Coranado, CA. No solicitation will be issued.
