HEAD DIVISION SEEKS COLLABORATION TO CO-DEVELOP ENERGETIC SOLUTIONS TO
CLEAR MINES AND OBSTACLES FROM BEACH AND SURF LANDING ZONES The Indian
Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (IHDIV/NSWC) is seeking
agencies, groups, or corporate interests for collaboration and
co-development of proposals for beach and/or surf zone clearing
energetic solutions. IHDIV/NSWC is the National Center for Energetics
(NCE). We apply our vast energetic technology and energetic subsystem
engineering experience to designing tomorrow's mine clearing/breaching
solutions. To date IHDIV has had many successful collaborative
efforts. Examples include Distributed Explosive Technology (DET),
Shallow Water Assault Breaching System (SABRE) (rocket propelled
distributed explosive nets or series line charges deployed into the
surf zone); HYDRA-7 (energetic-filled darts), and ESMB (rocket-deployed
net with distributed shaped charges; formerly DEMNS). IHDIV is the
Navy's resource for ensuring underwater and mine breaching warhead and
energetic subsystems are designed, developed, and produced to meet
current and future performance, safety, and environmental standards.
Our broad expertise in explosive energy and its application has been
brought to bear on defeating various threat obstacles and mines. Some
of our capability areas include energetic subsystem design and
analysis, detonation physics, material science, energetic formulation,
mine threat lethality, propulsion and delivery design, and energetic
manufacturing and testing. Interested organizations should contact Ahn
