(703) 605-4550, FAX (703) 605-5100 DESC: The USDA Forest Service has a contractual requirement for the conduct of its continuing program for manufacturing, procuring, warehousing, inventory controlling, and distributing of all USDA Forest Service uniform items under a five-year indefinite delivery-requirements type (fixed unit prices) contract which will be awarded to a single concern. Contract award anticipated o/a June 1, 2000. The term of the contract would be for a initial two-year period anticipated to begin October 1, 2000 and end September 30, 2002, with three full option year performance periods (Government Fiscal Years 2003, 2004 and 2005) beginning October 1, 2002. All uniform items acquired or manufactured by the contractor for sale to USDA Forest Service employees under this contract will be contractor-owned inventory. USDA Forest Service requires approximately 150 types of diverse, customized uniform items to be provided to approximately 17,000 full-time, part-time, seasonal and intermittent uniformed employees stationed throughout all 50 U.S. states, possessions, and territories and some foreign countries. In addition to manufacturing, procuring, warehousing, inventory controlling, and distributing the uniform items, the contractor will be required to provide an automated uniform system that allows for on-line or batch system entry, employee account set-up, registration, account approval by supervisory personnel, ordering of uniforms, exchanges, returns, back orders, exchanges, accounting and tracking of uniform allowances, accounting and monitoring of accounts, account history, and audit trail on purchases, usage, product trends, and account balances. The automated system must also have an on-line catalog with pictures of uniform items and drawings/pictures of "how to" measure information, price list information and allow electronic communications directly with each uniformed employee and other authorized personnel. These uniform lines consist of such diverse, customized items as jackets, shirts, trousers, skirts, neckties, hats, sweaters, walking shorts, flight suits, gloves, footwear, belts, and outerwear, all with specialized insignia and patches. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will be considered by USDA Forest Service. Prospective contractors are required to submit a Technical, Cost Proposal and BID SAMPLES OF A MAJORITY OF THE CONTRACT LINE ITEMS.
