2000, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction
of Fish and Wildlife Mitigation, Tobacco Island Project, Missouri
River, NE. Bids will be opened on or about 24 March 2000. This
solicitation is restricted to small business participation. Contractors
interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact
the Area Engineer's Office, Fort Crook Area, U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, P.O. Box 13287, Bldg. 527, Offutt AFB, Omaha, Nebraska
68113, Telephone 402-293-2550. DO NOT submit requests for plans and
specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See "Ordering"
below. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities)The
project involves construction of approx. 15,500 LF of river chute, with
a 10' bottom width and 2H/1V side slope. The inlet structure will be
constructed through two existing riverbank revetments. Stone removed
from the revetments will be salvaged and reused in the construction.
Two grade control structures will be excavated and placed. The chute
will flow though an existing rock filled dike. The rock dike will be
removed to 100' either side of the chute centerline and back filled
with embankment materials. Stone removed from the rock dike will be
salvaged and reused in the construction. The project also includes
installing a 16' wide crushed rock access road. The project includes
the following: clearing of approximately 13 acres, 800,000 CY of
excavation, salvage and then replace of 2,500 tons of existing stone,
placement of 7,000 tons of quarried stone, 3500 LF of crushed rock
road, also included is seeding and mulching of 50 acres. The estimated
construction cost of this project is between $1,000,000 and 2,500,000.
Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract.
The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after
notice to proceed and complete the work 360 calendar days after receipt
of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated
damages in case of failure tocomplete the work in the time allowed.
Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and
specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be
provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of
Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications
will not be provided in a printed hard copy format. Contractors may
