THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. The purpose of this notice is to identify sources with the capability to manufacture spiral bevel gears. CACI-ASG seeks to identify sources with CMM and computer simulation capability to numerically generate the manufacturing process, and to create virtual master gears. CMM and computer simulation are sought but are not mandatory and sources with capabilities other than computer simulation are encouraged to respond. Master gears are not available and must be developed. The gears were originally manufactured by the Steel Products Engineering Company (SPECO), now defunct. These gears are used on the wing flap actuation system on the C-141 Cargo Aircraft. CACI-ASG has an urgent requirement to qualify a vendor(s) for the future procurement of these gears. The gears are a build to print prototype effort based on technical data provided by CACI-ASG. Applicable contractor screening criteria for this sources sought notice are: technological and production capability, and in-plant engineering support for the manufacture of the gears and master gears. Outsourcing of specialized technical processes is permitted. Firm(s) selected will be awarded a subcontract for this effort. Firms having the ability to provide this service and willing to expedite the task should notify Mr. Scott Gray in writing prior to COB 02/07/00. After successful evaluation of workmanship, materials, accuracy, price and production, the overall performance will be evaluated for the purpose of qualifying a vendor(s) for future government procurement of the components.
