This is a notice issued by Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), management and operating contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site (SRS) near Aiken, South Carolina. The purpose of this notice is to determine public interest in licensing the Purge Water Management System (patent number US5490561). This system effectively eliminates the production of purge water when obtaining a groundwater sample from a monitoring well by introducing the purge water back into the well without coming into contact with the outside environment. This method eliminates the necessity of dealing with the purge water as a hazardous waste under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Interested parties will be provided with a technical brief and instructions on applying for a license to this technology. A typical license agreement will contain license fees and running royalties.
