F -- RESOURCE INVENTORY PLOTS SOL RFP R1-04-00-10 POC 24-Hour Message Phone (208) 765-7284; FAX (208) 765-7326 The Idaho Panhandle National Forests will be contracting resource inventory plots for the Northern Region Plot Inventory Pilot. These field plots are a vegetation inventory that includes information about trees on the plot (species, size, age, growth rates, insects, disease, damage, etc, plus forest habitat types, down, woody fuels transects, and information about understory vegetation and ground cover. These will be permanent plots which will require initial installation using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and monumentation of plots as part of the contract. Field plots are a modified design used by the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) group, with 4 fixed radius subplots in eachcluster. There will be approximately 530 plots, located on a fixed grid spanning approximately 300,000 acres of the Bonners Ferry Ranger District, Boundary County, Idaho. Thisis mountainous terrain, and approximately 35 percent is roadless. Start work, approximately end of April, first of May with contract time of 180 days. See Note 1 Posted 01/18/00 (W-SN416655).
