seeking to identify potential suppliers for a Heavy Duty Tire Changer
(Fixed Based Tire Changer) for the US Marine Corps, Family of Light
Armored Vehicles. Estimated quantity is 14 and is subject to change as
we are only in the planning stages. Responses to this Market Survey
are due February 07, 2000. This market survey is for information and
planning purposes only,and does not constitute a request for proposals
and is not to be construed as a commitment by TACOM-Warren. The Heavy
Duty Tire changer shall at least meet the following requirement
characteristics and capabilities: Capabilities: a. Tire type:
Manufacturer, Michelin, model XL, radial tubeless, steel-belted, size:
11" x 16" (capable to change tube-type or tubeless tires ) b. Tire
Inserts: Manufacturer, Hutchinson; model,VPPV-1(TLMO); type: puncture
proof liner c. Tire load maximum capacity: 4400 4520.0 pounds d. Max
Inflation Pressure: 80.0 e. Maximum tire diameter: 83" f. Service Type
and thread design: Off the road dozer traction g. Tire strength: 10
ply rating h. Material: Rubber, natural i. Min/Max wheel diameter: With
rim diameters from 15" up to 44" and up to 40" wide j. Wheels:
Manufacturer, Michelin; model, FR; type,three piece; Rim Size, 16" x
6.50" Characteristics: k. Must have a portable ramp that enables the
operator to easily maneuver even the largest tires on the four-position
tool carriage. l. Must require no lifting by the operator m. Rotational
torque of approximately 4,400 ft. lbs. n. No expensive electronics
required Responses should provide detailed information about the Heavy
Duty Tire Changer, including a detailed technical description,
NSNs/PNs, estimated costs, etc. The responses should indentify any
previous contract(s) (contract number, dollar amount, POC's, program
description, etc). All interested firms, regardless of the size are
encouraged to respond. However, companies must indicate business size
with their responses. Responses should be as short and concise as
