R -- MAINTENANCE AND TECHNICAL MANIPULATIONS OF RABBITS. SOL NIAID-DIR-00-55 DUE 010700 POC Barbara Welsh, Contract Specialist (301) 496-3878/Karin Eddy, Contacting Officer (301) 496-3878 The Division of Intramural Research (DIR) of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has a requirement for the care, breeding and technical manipulation of an established herd of approximately350-400 genetically defined rabbits within AAALAC accredited contractor animal facilities. Care of rabbits will be in accordance with current animal welfare regulations and policies. The rabbits will be used in immunologic procedures involving up to 2,500 injections and approximately 3,500 blood collections per year. In order to assure delivery of fresh blood samples and newborn rabbits, the facility must be able to deliver within 1.0 hour to the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. Any contract awarded will be subject to DHHS regulations regarding the use of animal subjects in research. The issuance of the RFP will be on or about January 03, 2000 and proposals will be due approximately February 03,2000.
