The Alaska Region of the Forest Service has a requirement for helicopter services with pilot to facilitate the grid inventory of the Tongass and Chugach National Forests and adjacent State and Private areas. Contractor shall furnish a Bell Long Ranger helicopter or equivalent and pilot to transport field inventory crews to field plots in the morning and return them to field camps or other quarters in the late afternoon. The helicopter must accomodate the pilot and up to 5 passengers and their field gear. The helicopter and pilot must meet Forest Service carding requirements. Crews will work a 10-day on, 4-day off schedule. There will be 6 10-day periods with a guaranteed 200 hours flying time. An option provision will be included to allow the Government to extend the contract up to 5 additional days. The project area extends from the Haines/Skagway area to Kodiak Island and along the coast between the above named locations, including Yakutat, Cordova, Valdez, and the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. The helicopter will be working out of field camps where housing for the pilot may be a tent in tent camps, motor home, road houses, or a boat. It is anticipated the contract period will be from approximately June 13 through approximately September 4, 2000. This project is 100% Small Business set-aside.
