Integrated D&D Technologies, zhangc@eng.fiu.edu. The U.S. Department of
Energy's (DOE) Office of Science and Technology (OST) and the
Hemispheric Center for Environmental Technology at Florida
International University (FIU-HCET) are conducting a comparative
analysis of baseline and innovative Deactivation and Decommissioning
(D&D) technologies. We are currently seeking integrated systems that
can perform two or more of the following tasks: (1) surface
decontamination, including coating or aggressive removal from masonry
surfaces (concrete or brick), and rust or coating removal from metal
surfaces; (2) Equipment dismantlement, such as size reduction of
gloveboxes, tanks, I-beams, plates, and pipes; and (3) Concrete
structure demolition, Evaluation of the selected technologies will be
conducted under standardized non-nuclear conditions at the FIU-HCET
technology assessment facility in Miami, Florida. Technologies tested
should be capable of being used in nuclear facilities and all
demonstrations will proceed as if being applied within a nuclear
facility. Although robotic or remotely controlled systems will be given
emphasis, all applicable technologies are encouraged to respond.
Interested firms should send an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Cindy
Zhang, D&D Project Manager, Hemispheric Center for Environmental
Technology, Florida International University, Center for Engineering
and Applied Science, 10555 West Flagler Street, Suite 2100, Miami, FL
33174, no later than 1/31/00. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. NO
SOLICITATION WILL BE ISSUED AS A RESULT OF THIS SYNOPSIS. Expressions
of Interest should include the firm's address, contact name, telephone
number, fax number, information on integrated technologies provided by
the firm, and list of locations where these technologies have been used
or demonstrated, especially within DOE or commercial nuclear
facilities. Posted 12/06/99 (W-SN406056). (0340) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0024 19991208\F-0001.SOL)
