88 -- Q-FEVER NEGATIVE SHEEP OF VARIOUS BREEDS AS REQUESTED BY NIH INVESTIGATORS SOL NHLBI-PS-00-534 POC Gina M. Cianflone, Contract Specialist, (301) 435-0363; Christopher Belt, Contracting Officer, (301) 435-0358 The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has a requirement for the furnishing of Q-Fever Negative sheep of various breeds as requested by individual order and in accordance with the specifications and standards listed in the solicitation. Specifically, the contractor shall be required to supply both male and female sheep ranging in weight from 40 to 150 pounds. The sheep shall be American bred and reared for research use and in overt good health upon arrival at NIH. The animals must be Q-fever negative as documented by an ELISA test drawn within 30 days prior to receipt at NIHAC. The sheep shall be polled (genetically preferred) and composed of the following breed(s): Dorset, Rambouillet, Finnsheep, Targhee, Polypay, or mixed combinations as specified herein. Other breeds of sheep, purebred or crossbred, may be substituted if first cleared by the Project Officer. The Contractor shall comply with Title 9 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR), Chapter 1, (1-1-92 Edition), Subpart F -- Specifications for theHumane Handling, Care, Treatment, and Transportation of Warm blooded Animals, Other than Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Hamsters, Guinea Pigs, Nonhuman Primates, and Marine Mammals. This requirement is a small business set-aside. The applicable Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) is 0214, size standard $0.5 million. The contractor period of performance will be for one twelve (12) month period, with options to renew for four (4) additional twelve (12) month periods. A firm fixed-price, indefinite delivery (requirements) type contract is anticipated for this requirement.
