202-233-2025 The National Institute for Literacy (NIFL) is seeking
interested bidders for a simplified acquisition competition (for this
simplified acquisition, individuals are considered a small business) to
carry out the initial stages of NIFL's work disseminating information
on research-based practices in adult literacy. For the period January
3, 2000 to January 30, 2001, NIFL seeks to work with a contractor for
the purpose of: (1) developing and maintaining an on-line database of
research studies about how adults learn to read, (2) developing and
maintaining an on-line database of examples of research-based programs
and practices that are effective in helping adults learn to read, (3)
convening an expert panel to assess the uses and implications of
research on reading acquisition in other stages of life to inform
research and practice with adults, (4) preparing reports on the results
of the panel's assessment for national distribution, and (5) assisting
with other projects as necessary. The expected release date of this
RFP is on or about December 10, 1999. In addition a copy of the RFP can
