Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is seeking offerors capable of
providing a printing press roller and retrieval system. The printing
press roller storage and retrieval system shall be capable of storing
a minimum of 25 elastomer coated rollers. The system shall be capable
of performing the following functions without manual lifting of more
than 40 pounds of weight. The system shall lift a printing press roller
from a BEP provided transportation cart and store it in a selected
position. The system shall also retrieve a printing press roller from
a selected position and place it on a BEP provided transportation cart.
The printing press roller dimensions are as follows: Overall length:
33.5_ to 48.3_, Maximum diameter of elastomer coated roller: 11_,
Weight of roller: 400 lbs, Distance between two supporting surfaces: 29
12 _ to 35 12_. The space available for the installation of the system
and for the storage, retrieval and transportation of the rollers is 20
ft. long X 8 ft. wide X10 ft. high.The 20 ft. wall length consists of
6 12 ft., 10 ft-7 in. and 2 ft.-11 in. sections for storing 10 inking
rollers, 10 wiper rollers and 5 inking rollers respectively based upon
storage capacity of one roller per carrier. The SIC code is 3499.

to determine the commercial availability of the printing press roller
