Division, as part of its efforts to fully automate the nautical chart
production process and to maximize the digital processing technology
available, requires the services of two (2) individuals to provide
collection and translation of charting data to digital format and
performance of repetitious cartographic efforts. Duties would include
performing a comparison of the source received with published nautical
products to ascertain any existing error, collection and formatting of
chart graphics and charted notes into digital raster and vector format,
collection of positioning information required for geographic
referencing purposes in digital display systems, collection of
boundaries to describe maintainable pixel representations of scanned
nautical chart graphics, and processing and application of critical
published chart corrections of the United States Coast Guard (USGC),
National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA), and the Canadian
HydrographicService (CHS). Period of Performance would be for a period
of one year from date of award. Interested applicants must meet the
following Basic Qualifications Requirements: 1) Knowledge and
preferably hands-on use of NOS Geographic Information System
capabilities and systems; 2) Knowledge and use of digitizing utilities
and capabilities including update and maintenance of vector and raster
databases; 3) Nautical cartography support/production experience or
education or a combination of both; 4) Provide cartographic support in
a nautical charting production atmosphere immediately without
training. Interested applicants must submit information documenting
