The Marine Corps Systems Command Contracts Directorate is seeking sources/requesting information on ruggedized commerical laptop and sub-notebook computers for Program Manager Information Technology Infrastructure. The U.S Marine Corps intends to conduct market research and environmental testing on the ruggedized laptops and sub-notebooks to seek solutions for the field environment. Desired physical characteristics of the systems include; Sub-notebook: 4 to 7 lbs or less with battery; 64 to 128 Mb RAM, 266 + MHz processing speed, 4+ GB storage, 2 Type II and/or 1 Type III expansion ports, and Microsoft Win NT/2000 compatible; Notebook: 8 to 12 lbs with battery, 128 to 192 Mb RAM, 366 + MHz processing speed, 6.4GB + storage, 2 Type II and/or 1 Type III expansion ports, 24x/14x CD-ROM, and Microsoft Win NT/2000 compatible.
