The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) intends to enter into sole source contract entitled "Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) Maintenance" with Scientech, Inc., for software and hardware maintenance of the ERDS. Specifically, Scientech shall be required to provide the necessary personnel, materials, and equipment, to maintain and ensure operability of the ERDS hardware and software necessary for reception, storage, use and retransmission of the data from each nuclear power plant; maintain and update the ERDS user interface software; provide maintenance for the hardware to support the overall system effectiveness requirement; evaluate current displays to ensure user friendly interfaces and make recommendations for improvements; provide a written analysis of various options; maintain a prototype facility that replicates ERDS that would allow a platform for software development and troubleshooting for ERDS as required; maintain and revise the Detailed Software Design, the System's Engineer Manual, the Hardware Design, the system drawings, the ERDS CommunicationTechnical Summary, and the ERDS Operator Manual. ERDS is a completely developed system which is implemented at every operating nuclear power plant in the country. The man machine interface (mmi) used in ERDS is the R*Time mmi which is a proprietary product of Scientech, Inc.
