13 -- DOD LOW-LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTE GENERATORS MEETING POC Contracting Officer: Robert Matthys CBD Announcement: DOD Low-Level Radioactive Waste Generators Meeting The DOD Executive Agency for Low-Level Radioactive Waste will hold the tenth annual Waste Generators Meeting in Williamsburg, VA, 7-8 March 2000. The objective of the meeting is to give you the opportunity to meet and hear from management personnel responsible for the Department of Defense (DOD) Radioactive Waste Disposal Program and give you information on a variety of radioactive waste issues. The agenda will focus on the changes affecting current and new disposal site availability, disposal costs, new technologies for waste management, radioactive materials in the public sector and other national issues. There will be a limited amount of display/exhibit space available. We are also soliciting technical presentations from the industry. Technical presentations must be applicable to DOD generated waste streams and processing requirements, and will be selected on a first come basis -- these agenda time slots are extremely limited and require an abstract NLT 17 January, 2000. In the past there have been an average of 100 attendees, 12 exhibitors and 4 technical presentations selected. Attendees will include representatives of the Army, Navy, Defense Logistics Agency, U.S. Corps of Engineers, Air Force, Department of Energy, state governments, regulators, low-level waste compacts, the Low-Level Waste Forum, and the low-level waste contractors. In the past there have been an average of 100 attendees, 12 exhibitors and 4 technical presentations selected. You will have an excellent opportunity to learn more and participate in discussions about national radioactive waste issues; the DOD radioactive waste program's procedures, capabilities and requirements; and meet with and address issues with state, compact and federal regulators.
