Bureau of Prisons intends to award a nonpersonal service contract to
the individual or company best qualified to provide orthotic services
to Federal inmates housed at the Federal Medical Center, Lexington, KY.
This procurement is 100% set aside for small business. Duties include
but are not limited to: providing professional medical services in the
field of orthopedic appliance applicationand/or orthopedic fottwear
installation. The applications include upper extremity, lower extremity
and individual inner/outer footwear needs, and any other custom
appliances as determined by the clincal director. Tehe contractor shall
also perform repairs to prosthetic devices as deemed necessary and cost
effective by hospital administration. Requirements include: the
contractor must have a degree from an accredited school of prosthetics
and/or orthotics. Must possess current unrestricted national
certification to practice orthotics and/or prosthetics. Documentation
of diplomas and certificates is required. The contractor shall conduct
one three hour session per month. Schedule will be at the
determination of the clinical director and the contractor. Work shall
commence between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through
Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. Total work hours shall not exceed
30 hours per week. This will be a non personal service contract and not
a personnel appointment. The contract period shall include a base year,
not to exceed 12 months, and 4 one year option periods. The anticipated
solicitation date is November 30, 1999, with an anticpated due date of
