COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 10,1999 PSA#2473MOBILE APPROACH CONTROL SYSTEM (MACS) Special Notice. This CBD
announcement is for contractors seeking subcontracting opportunities.
The Global Air Traffic Operations, Mobility Command and Control (GATO
MC2) Program Office, Navigation & Landing Systems Division (ESC/GAL),
intends to replace two mobile radar systems currently in use by the Air
Force and the Air National Guard (AN/TPN-19 and AN/MPN-14K) with the
MACS. Both the AN/TPN-19 and AN/MPN-14K systems are at or beyond their
life expectancy and are becoming economically unsustainable. The MACS
should operate within Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and
International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO) performance parameters.
The MACS must be able to operate both in fixed base and forward austere
locations. An Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) to the existing joint
DoD/FAA Digital Airport Surveillance Radar (DASR) contract
(F19628-96-D-0038) is planned to support development and acquisition of
up to 18 mobile DASRs. The ECP will also provide for the factory
acceptance testing; acquisition of the Airport Surveillance Radar and
Operation subsystems shelters with ancillary equipment to include
electronics, antennas, all necessary cabling and interconnects; MACS
operations and maintenance training, spare parts, manuals, test
equipment; and overall MACS integration. Those firms interested in
subcontracting opportunities for the MACS requirements should contact
Mr. Tony Polise at Raytheon Systems Company 528 Boston Post Road
Sudbury, MA 01776. For any further information contact ESC/GAK, 75
