PRELIMINARY NOTICE OF CONTRACT CONSTRUCTION A project on Wenthworth Springs Road, El Dorado County, California, beginning near Uncle Tom's Cabin and proceeding East approximately 10.324 km to the intersection of Forest Highway 136, Ice House Road, CA PFH 137-1(2), is tentatively scheduled for advertising in early 2000. This advance notice is being given because weather and site conditions may prevent viewing at the time of advertising for bids. Wentworth Springs Road is located approximately 95 km east of Sacramento, California and the western terminus begins at Georgetown. The project consists of reconstructing the eastern 10.324 kilimeters of this road. The work consists of grading, drainage and paving, including 162,500 cubic meters of excavation; 36,800 metric tons aggregate base; 16,600 metric tons hot asphaltic concrete pavment; 2,050 meters culvert pipe (varialble sizes); 420 meters guardrail; 26 hectares clearing and grubbing; associated survey and staking and traffic control items. A project showing is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2,1999. Plans and specifications will be available for review at the project showing. Potential bidders should meet at 10:00 a.m. local time at the Georgetown USFS Ranger Station at 7600 Wentworth Springs Road. The current roadway does not have an all-weather surface and 4-wheel drive may be required.
