COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 15,1999 PSA#2455B -- COMMERCIAL SPACE OPPORTUNITIES STUDY (CSOS) DEBRIEF The
Developmental Planning Directorate, Space and Missile Systems Center
(SMC/XR), Los Angeles AFB invites industry members and others to an
out-brief of the Commercial Space Opportunities Study (CSOS). For the
past year AFMC/SMC and AFSPC have conducted the CSOS to investigate
ways for the Air Force to exploit commercial opportunities in order to
satisfy government space requirements. Along with the government,
industry has been an active participant throughout the course of this
effort. This Industry Day will be held on 28 October 1999 from 0730
through 1200, at the Fort MacArthur Community Center, Garden Room, 2400
Pacific Ave., Building 403, San Pedro, CA. The Space and Missile
Systems Center's Vice-Commander will provide opening remarks. SMC/XR
and AFSPC/DXP, as study directors, will lead the CSOS overview debriefs
and AFSPC/DXP will also present the AFSPC Savings Re-Investment Plan
and the Operational Approach to Commercial Uses. Representatives from
the following five CSOS panels will present their findings: Satellite
Control, Navigation, Launch and Range, Remote Sensing, and
Communication. In addition, SMC/XR will discuss the recently
established Commercial Space Exploitation Office (CEPO). The results of
CSOS will be provided to the CORONA meeting of USAF Generals in
November 1999. In addition, the study's findings will be published in
a final report at the end of November 1999. Once published, the final
report will be available to all interested parties via the CSOS web
