E-MAIL: To contact the Contract Specialist, tbouchar@natick-amed02.army.mil. The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions which were submitted to solicitation #DAAD16-99-R-1029. Please note that the due date has not been extended. Questions and Answers for Solicitation #DAAD16-99-R-1029 Q1 -- At about line 17 of the Specs. We do not understand the meaning of " must be tri-folding consisting of three sections with two pivot points capable of 360 degrees of rotation (with three or more lockable positions)". Please describe the intended objective or provide a sketch. As stated this requirement is not clear. A-1 -- The cart must be three sections which connect via hinges. This must be capable of rotating through a range from one side of the center section to the other allowing it to pivot througha full range. Through this range it must be capable of securing in three positions. IE. at 30, 60, and 90 degrees or more. Q2 -- What is meant by extendability to 92" L x 32" wide? Can this be accomplished by joining two units as in the earlier requirement for ladder capability? A2 -- The extension does not include the attachment of a second unit. This is a single unit requirement. The 32 inches wide is not stated to be adjusted, only the length. Q3 -- Is the 32" working width requirement to be constant along the entire 92"? A3 -- Yes. Q4 -- Re shipping quotes, this is not clear and subject to misinterpretation. It looks like you want us to average these costs guessing on the numbers going to destinations as stated? Why not let us quote at time of delivery the exact shipping cost? A4 -- Shipping costs are to be included into the price of the cart. We have provided you with the main units to be supported and had stated the quantities to be provided will be about equal to each location. Pricing is done this way so that the Government has exact cost Q5 -- What are the packaging requirements and is the added weight to be a part of the 35 pound limit? A5 -- Best commercial practices. No, the additional packaging weight is not part of the 35lb limit. Q5 -- Are you expecting offerors to design and build a prototype for submission with the proposal? A5 -- We are looking for a commercial or modified commercial item (see FAR 2.1 for definition of a commercial item). Q6 -- Will it be pulled or pushed? A6 -- Both Q7 -- Height Parameters? A7 -- 9 inch ground clearance. Q8 -- Do you know of such a cart that is currently available off the shelf? A8 -- Our market research indicated that commercial units (as defined in FAR 2.1) should be available. Posted 10/05/99 (W-SN388885). (0278)
