The Naval Air Systems Command intends to issue a firm fixed price modification under Contract N00019-97-C-0046 with McDonnell Douglas Corporation (MDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, for two Spanish Remanufactured AV-8B Aircraft, with an option for seven additional aircraft. This action will be negotiated on a sole source basis with MDC under the statutory authority of FAR 6.302-1 (only one responsible source and no other services will satisfy agency requirements), as MDC is the only know contractor who possesses the expertise, avionics integration capability, and information required to produce the Spanish Remanufactured AV-8B aircraft in a timely and cost effective manner.
