PRESHOW -- UT PRA BRCA 10(2), BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK, GARFIELD COUNTY PRELIMINARY NOTICE OF CONTRACT CONSTRUCTION A project in Bryce Canyon National Park (BRCA), Garfield County, Utah, on the Rainbow Point -- Rim Road, UT PRA BRCA 10(2), is tentatively scheduled for advertising in early 2000. This advance notice is being given because weather and site conditions may prevent viewing at the time of advertising for bids. BRCA is located approximately 420 km south of Salt Lake City, Utah and 390 km northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. The project consists of reconstructing 16.2 kilometers of the Rainbow Point Rim Road from Farview Point to the north Park boundary (5 km south of State Route 12). The work consists of grading, drainage and paving, including: 135,000 cubic meters of excavation; 126,000 metric tons aggregate base; 40,000 metric tons hot asphaltic concrete pavement; 3,000 meters culvert pipe (variable sizes), 1,200 square meters mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall with welded wire face; 500 square meters MSE wall with modular block face; 500 meters guardrail;45 hectares clearing & grubbing; associated survey & staking and traffic control items. A project showing is scheduled for Tuesday, October 19, 1999. Plans and specifications will be available for review at the project showing.
