P -- SALVAGE SERVICES AND J -- MAINTENANCE AND/OR REPAIR OF EQUIPMENT -- SPECIAL NOTICE SPECIAL NOTICE -- The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to issue a PRELIMINARY DRAFT Statement of Work (SOW) for the Deep Submergence Unit (DSU) Outsource procurement on or about 27 September 1999 to encourage industry participation in the review of the PRELIMINARY DRAFT SOW. It is envisioned that the prospective procurement will encompass services for worldwide deep ocean search and salvage operations, flyaway rescue operations, as well as maintenance and repair of Deep Submergence Unit (DSU) equipment on a routine basis and during rescue operations. The Preliminary Draft SOW will be posted on the Web under the aforementioned solicitation number. Interested parties should forward their comments on the SOW to Linda Gewiss, Naval Sea Systems Command, Code 02622, 2531 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia 22242-5160 by either U.S. mail or by facsimile on (703) 602-7023 no later than 1600 8 October 1999. The Government will consider all comments received. This SOW is strictly preliminary in natureand interested parties should not construe that the SOW will remain as posted without significant revisions being incorporated prior to RFP issuance. All subsequent revisions and release of the Draft SOW remains solely at the Government's discretion. The Government will not provide individual responses to questions. This is not a Request for Proposals, a promise to issue a Request for Proposals, nor a promise by the Government to pay for information received in response to this synopsis or any subsequent synopsis announcing the availability of draft specifications for industry participation and feedback.
