Starkey, Contract Specialist, (202) 324-0564 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) #958310, the provisions and clauses incorporated are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-12. This solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is unrestricted. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code is 3826 and the Business Size Standard is 500 employees. This will be a Firm-Fixed Price Contract. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis with Foster and Freeman Limited, 25 Swan Lane, Evesham Worcestershire, WR11 4PE, UK, for the following laboratory equipment: (One each) VSC-2000 Video Spectra Comparator to include all accessories, VSC 2000 software & update for two years, Year 2000 compatible, training and installation -- Delivery 12 weeks, after receipt of order (ARO), -- FOB -Destination to Washington, DC 20535. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all quotes received within ten (10) days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon response of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
