RANDALL.PICKWELL@ssa.gov. The Social Security Administration is seeking
industry sources that provide: 1) AS400 print integration
software/hardware products capable of linking AS400 operating systems
and remote LAN WAN based printers, and 2) installation/ integration
support services for these products. The products must be capable of
all the following tasks in an enterprise wide environment: a) routing
and queuing print traffic, specifically AFP IPDS from an AS400 host
processor to local and remote NT controlled Local Area Network
printers, b) directing print jobs to any printer defined to the LAN or
WAN, c) converting AFP IPDS to PCL for printing in the LAN
environment, d) employing a compression algorithm that reduces network
traffic while transferring print data, offering improved network
performance, e) utilizing TCP/IP communications technology for ease of
configuration and problem determination, f) maintaining bi-
directional communications with the AS400 to offer queue and printer
control at the AS400 operator level andto allow for error recovery, g)
be upgradable as new hardware/ software is introduced, and, h) be
compatible with disability case processing software that is in use by
SSA's state business partners. The installation/ integration support
services for these products must include: a) installation, integration,
and licensing of software and hardware, including necessary future
upgrades, at SSA's state partner's locations, b) systems configurations
as necessary to meet the requirements of SSA's state business partners,
c) technical support at the state locations during core state operating
hours between 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 PM, 5 days per week, and, d) training
for all required staff members who will administer the print
management platform provided by the vendor. Vendors are invited to
submit information detailing relevant technical experience, customer
references, geographic area service coverage, competency of technical
personnel, project management capabilities, technical training and
certification programs, and any other relevant descriptive literature.
This is not a request for proposal and the Government will not pay for
any information received in response to this notice. All responses must
clearly demonstrate the vendor's ability to provide the software and
services as described. No cost or pricing data is requested or
required. Respondents will not be notified of the results of any
internal Government evaluation of data received. Interested parties
must submit appropriate data in duplicate within 15 days of the date of
