092299 POC Maria Graciano 415-750-2066 This contract action is for the
lease of Intellx computer system and associated software for automated
anaylsis of brain structures from MRI data for the period of October 1,
1999 through September 30, 2000 with option to extend two (2)
additional years. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with
only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation. A WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE
ISSUED. The following are the specifications/requirements for this
procurement: System and software to provide automated mapping of the
brain structures from MRI data. In addition shall provide automated
mapping of the hippocampal structures once certain anatomical landmarks
have been established. The mapping provides both the hippocampal
volumes and surface models of the hippocampi, potentially enabling
specific areas of structual changes and atrophy to be identified. The
Intellx Hippocampus Mapping System consists of: Five (5) rack-mounted
Intel-based CPUs which include a web server, system control, file
serving, and two dedicated processors to run the Intellx deformation
software; One (1) switchable monitor, keyboard, and mouse; One (1)
Uninteruptable Power supply; One (1) RAID file system; One (1) Ethernet
hub; One (1) stand-alone WinNT station (including monitor, keyboard,
and mouse) which is used to perform the manual preprocessing steps
required by the Intellx deformation software. This is a notice of
intent to issue a sole source contract to Intellx, Broomfield, CO
800120 for the lease of the items cited above. Responsible sources who
are interest in this procurement shall submit in response, clear and
convincing information that identifies their capabilities. In addition,
the offeror shall substantiate their offer with technical data,
brochures, price list or catalog pricing, terms and conditions,
delivery schedule, etc. If these items and services are available under
a GSA or NAC contract, please provide the contract schedule and
information. Payments shall be made in arrears. All responses must be
received within 15 calendar days of the date of this CBD notice. Offers

above by September 22, 1999. No telephone requests will be accepted.
Requests for a solicitation will be considered nonresponsive. All
responses from responsible sources submitting the required information
will be fully considered. Please provide the Brand Name/Model
number/Part number of the substitute item, if other than Intellx is
being offered. All questions must be faxed to the number listed above.
All responses should include DUNS #, TAX ID Code, and Cage Codes. As
a result of analyzing rsponses to this synopsis of intent, the
Contracting Officer may determine that the action may be competed and
resulting award under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
