Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), Division of Kidney, Urologic and
Hematologic Diseases (DKUHD), has a requirement for the recompetition
of two Biomedical Special Studies Centers (SSCs). One of the SSCs will
perform analytical work in the area of Quality of Life and
Rehabilitation of End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Patients, and the
other in the area of Nutrition/Malnutrition. Under this phase of the
USRDS, the contracts for the Coordinating Center and the Cardiovascular
Diseases SSC have been awarded, and that for the Economic SSC will soon
be awarded. Each SSC will perform three Existing Data Studies, and will
design, pilot and conduct two Special Studies. The Requests for
Proposals, RFP No. NIH-NIDDK-00-01 will be issued on or about October
1, 1999 with a closing date of on or about January 14, 2000. All
organizations who received copies of RFP Nos. NIH-NIDDK-98-7 and 98-8
for the Coordinating Center and the Special Studies Centers,
respectively, need not request, but will automatically be sent a copy
of RFP 00-01. Requests for the RFP must be in writing (by mail, fax or
e-mail) addressed to the Contracting Officer cited above, and must
cite the referenced RFP number. All responsible sources may submit a
proposal which will be considered by the agency. The Government is not
committed to award contracts pursuant to this announcement. Posted
