New program. Status: Market Survey is to be conducted, during which various types of commercial Boot Gaiters will be reviewed. No solicitation document exists. Objective: To conduct a Market Survey of commercially available Boot Gaiters to be worn by dismounted Soldiers to protect them from environmental conditions encountered in cold/arctic terrain. The purpose of the gaiters is to increase mobility and survivability during operations over snow covered terrain. The gaiters will be waterproof/water repellent, insulated, with quick-drying materials. The gaiters will be subdued in color appropriate for wear in cold/arctic areas. The gaiters will weigh less than two pounds, resist mold and fungus growth, and be easy to don and doff. The gaiters will not hinder the Soldier's movements and be compatible with combat footwear and ski/snowshoe bindings. All interested firms should submit one pair of each type in a small and large size with product descriptions. These samples will not be returned. The CBD announcement should be open to all potentially valid submittals from interested contractors, including small business and set-aside companies. All communications shall be addressed to U. S.
