Richter, Contract Specialist (760) 939-4272 The Naval Air Warfare
Center, Weapons Division, China Lake, CA, is seeking sources with the
capability to design the product, and document the manufacturing
process, for high density packaging of a microwave antenna
beamformer/multiplexer network and associeted MEMS (Micro Minature
Electronics) RF switches in a 2.30 inch diameter by approximately.310
inch deep package. RF inputs from the antenna elements are "Fuzz
Buttons" (trademark of Teknit Interconnection Products), while the
output is a Gilbert GPPO RF interface. Functional elements of this unit
will include 8 baluns, 4 quadrature hybrids, a four-channel
multiplexer, and MEMS polarity selection switching with a power-off,
default state. Sources responding must have the capability to
manufacture the units in production quantity, while meeting quite
stringent performance unit-to-unit uniformity, reliability and
environmental requiremetns. The operating environment is MIL-E-5400
Class II, airborne, uninhabited. NO resulting contract is contemplated
at this time. MEMS is a DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency) initiative under MAFET III (Microwave and Analog Front End
Technology). Ferro-Pill is a trademark of MaCom. There are currently
five (5) commercial sources in the United States actively participating
in the RF switch portion of the initiative, all of whom have
successfully built and demonstrated working switches. Some companies
are now reported to now be sampling MEMS switches. The technical
contact is Mr. Phelps Terheun, (760) 939-2320. Contracts contact point
is P. Richter (760) 939-4272. Posted 08/27/99 (I-SN373572). (0239) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0013 19990831\A-0013.SOL)
