R -- ASSIST IN MEETING EMSC 5-YEAR PLAN OBJECTIVES SOL HRSA-99-MCHB-64AAB DUE 090899 POC Aileen Broider-301-443-5231 The Health Resources and Services Administration intends to negotiate on a SOLE SOURCE basis with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), 141 Northwest Point Boulevard, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007. This procurement shall be processed in accordance with the Simplified Acquisition Procedures in Part 13 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations. The purpose of this procurement is to implement activities to assist in meeting the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) 5-Year Plan objectives. The contractor shall: participate in various EMSC-related meetings; organize a meeting with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to promote "National EMS Week"; collaborate with the ACEP and Medic Alert to develop and distribute an information kit on emergency preparedness for children with special health care needs; develop a sponsored AAP pediatric emergency medicine web site; disseminate EMSC information; and convene a task force to discuss collaboration on a training curriculum on first aid training for child care workers and parents. The American Academy of Pediatrics is deemed the only responsible source capable of providing the required work and services. The period of performance is one year.
